I dressed up as Nellie Bly for the 6th grade biography fair because the role of Emily Dickinson was already taken.
Since then, I've covered urban education, politics, business, and crime for the New York Times and the Wall Street Journal, out of Chicago and New York City. I also blogged extensively about education policy for GothamSchools.org.
I'm a New Yorker by birth but a Chicagoan at heart, and I split my time between both cities, and now New Haven, Conn. too. I'm on a relentless hunt for the next story/project/gig to tackle.
Now I'm a staff reporter for the Chicago Tribune's daily free publication, the RedEye. I also contribute to #24MAG.
